Tracy K. Smith is a poet first included in 2025 in the Prescribed Material for the Leaving Certificate Examination. Smith was born in Massachusetts and raised in northern California. She is a professor of English and of African and African-American Studies. Smith is a Pulitzer winning poet, and a two-time poet laureate of the United States (2017-2019).
